Proverbs 1:20 "Wisdom calls aloud outside; She raises her voice in the open squares."
Question for today: Will you seek what God's wisdom has to offer or will you chose to "love simplicity" and "delight in their scorning."(Excerpts from Proverbs 1:22) Scorning means to dimiss as contemptible or unworthy and simple means lack of thought, intelligence, wisdom or education.
Alot of people know the story of Solomon in the Bible but if you are not familiar you can find part of his story in 1 Kings. Solomon was the son of David king of Israel and his youngest son. When he became king, the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said ask for anything you want and I will give it to you. Solomon asked for wisdom.
What exactly is wisdom? Is it being smart? Being old and therefore wise? What does it mean to be wise? Wisdom is the ability to discern inner qualities and relationships. God's wisdom is the greatest. When we ask him to help us and give us wisdom and when we are in his word he promises to give us wisdom. Throughout the verses in Proverbs 1:20-33 it talks about if we accpet God's wisdom we will be blessed but of you do not accepet God's wisdom your life will be full of pain and heartache.

Philippians 4:6-7 "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
Why Resting Content?
Why is my blog titled Resting Content? Philippians 4:6-7 says, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." So many times we are not content with the way things turn out. We have everything we are going to do planned out, and alot of the time God isn't going by our agenda. Or maybe you're not that kind of person and just kind of let things happen. Either way events occur that upset us. The loss of a job, failing a college final, a death in the family. How do we take these things? Are we, "anxious for nothing" or are we worrying how am I going to handle this? How could this happen? Christ calls us not to be anxious, "but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made." It is a lesson I learn everyday. Even in the smallest thing I have to remember to rest contently. I must always remember that, "the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." If you ask God in, "prayer and supplication" to help you, you can be sure that He will. You will find yourself, Resting Content.
The Plan of Salvation (Romans Road)
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (NKJV)
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (NKJV)
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (NKJV)
Romans 10:9-10 That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto unrighteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. (NKJV)
We are all sinners, we all do things that are wrong.
The only thing we will get from sin is death and an eternity in the lake of fire, but God will give us eternal life in heaven.
But God loved us soo much he sent his son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. If you willingly acknowledge that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from the dead you will be saved.

That he rose again on the 3rd day, according to the scriptures, and that I will be in heaven some day with my wonderful Saviour. I also really like backpacking, dayhiking, reading, playing trombone, building fires (dont worry safe ones), horseback riding (although I never get the chance anymore) and spending time with my God-fearing family. Well, you name it and I am willing to try it... for the most part :D I would love to be a part of a missions trip to an Eastern European country.

Wise thoughts Jared. Like Proverbs says, "the fear (or respect) of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom". Oh how we need to be in God's Word to discover His ways...

I just read this again, and I have to say for a young man in high-school you have a lot of wisdom. I know that it's not an earthly wisdom (although you are a very smart guy), but a heavenly wisdom that only comes from reading God's Word. Keep reading my son and God will show you wonderful and amazing things to help you on life's pilgrimage home.
